How We Work

How We Work

19LA is one of our most ambitious projects to date – a smart home that doesn’t just reflect the personality of our clients, but also represents the essence of who we are at Project One, and how we work.
This page offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into our process: how we imagine, create, and deliver highly bespoke spaces where craft, innovation, and lifestyle intersect.

Making The House

Although we joined the project later in the build phase, we worked closely with WebberHaus to fine-tune the internal layout and design strategy. Watching them deliver a perfect structural shell was a jaw-dropping experience and one that set the tone for everything that followed.
From there, we took over the full design and build of the internal areas, including electrics, AV, automation, garden landscaping, front approach, and all interior spaces. Having the freedom to apply our design philosophy from shell to completion was, quite simply, a dream come true.

Making The Kitchen

This kitchen was designed to challenge the narrative of what a modular flat-pack home can be. We introduced aged silver Bono from Alabama first used on the Skyfall ceiling, repurposed here as a 5mm veneer over custom kitchen cabinetry to stunning effect.
Every section was built to fit precisely into the space. The refrigeration wall, housing Sub Zero appliances, lights up at night to create an elegant, gallery-like mood. The island was welded and fabricated on site to integrate flush-fit appliances and bespoke detailing.
The rear of the kitchen is backed by a raft wall, which supports a Dolby Atmos cinema zone, allowing the entire family to gather, cook, and relax in one connected space. Bocci lighting, a floating table and a Missoni-upholstered booth complete this space: grown-up, refined, and unapologetically unique.
The main kitchen section is backed onto a raft with a Dolby Atmos cinema at the rear prescribing the zones for the entire family to be in one space.
The sit down and relax sections are taken care of in a floating table coming off one end of the island and a Missoni booth.
Bocci Lighting and Hande fabricated marble complete the look for this elegant grown-up kitchen space with a sharp but rustic feel.

Making The Bathrooms

Each bathroom at 19LA was designed to reflect the personality of the person using it. Standard layouts were replaced with fully bespoke concepts – from floating book-matched marble to poured-resin artwork.

We created individual mood boards for each space and collaborated closely with the family to bring their ideas to life. Custom laser-cut door bars feature the names of each family member for that extra special touch.

Making the WC

Working with Armani/Roca – one of our exclusive brands – is always a highlight, and in this case, the results speak volumes. Our water rhythm ceiling in the WC reflects the entire room and casts a moving light effect reminiscent of sunshine hitting the ocean floor. It’s a detail that transforms the space completely between day and night, and one of our favourite features in the home.

Making The Marble

We could have taken the conventional route: call in a marble company, pick a slab from a catalogue, let the machines do the work. But that’s not how we do things.
Instead, we sourced individual marble blocks ourselves, selecting each one based on the exact requirements of the space. These were sliced, polished, delivered to the build, and then hand-fabricated by our artisan team on site. It’s messy, noisy, and not without risk, but the result is something truly exceptional.

Making the Lighting

The lighting at 19LA is both functional and theatrical. More than 200 circuits were installed to balance discreet, day-to-day illumination with high-impact statement pieces.
We partnered with Lee Broom, David Groppi, Cameron Design House, and Bocci, and also fabricated custom lighting elements for balconies and transitional spaces. In the cloakroom, we used mirrored reflections to create a dazzling night-time effect – turning a small space into something fun and utterly unforgettable.

Making The Home Automation

While WebberHaus traditionally installs Connect home automation systems, the level of integration and flexibility required at 19LA led us to partner with Control4, to allow full customisation across the entire home.
With just one system, the client can manage heating, lighting, CCTV, security, cinema zones, and audio via wall panels, touchscreens, voice commands, or a phone app. Over 200 lighting circuits have been configured to shift with the time of day, creating atmospheric sequences that evolve throughout the home.
Every room includes concealed ceiling speakers, while TV and cinema content is streamed via a full video matrix. Control4 even manages the garden’s irrigation system – proof that technology, when done right, makes life beautifully simple.

Making the garden

The brief was clear: create a clean, low-maintenance space that could accommodate future expansion.
We connected every corner of the property with ductwork leading back to the plant room, allowing for seamless upgrades over time. The garden includes a full irrigation system and stripped-back fencing to maintain a minimalist, architectural feel in keeping with the rest of the house.
