Skyfall BIO

The existing 1960s dormer bungalow presented an extraordinary opportunity for transformation. Set against a striking mountainous backdrop, Skyfall was reimagined with a captivating ski chalet aesthetic. This vision guided the design, bringing to life reclaimed petrified barn oak ceilings that echo the warmth and elegance of an alpine retreat. The brief focused on creating expansive open-plan living areas complemented by state-of-the-art home automation, ingeniously dividing the home into two distinct wings off a central entrance: one a dynamic social and entertaining space, the other a serene private family suite with direct garden access.

The External House

Externally, Skyfall is clad in meticulously hand-cut Welsh slate, scalloped to create subtle visual movement as rainwater cascades over each piece. Timber cladding wraps the structure, harmonising with the natural surroundings and reflecting the interior’s warm tones of petrified oak.

Main Living Space

The main living area epitomises contemporary luxury, with a fluid open layout that seamlessly transitions between kitchen, living, entertainment, and coffee shop-inspired zones. Subtle design elements – such as a floating brass divider and an open-plan office area accessed via elegant stairs – define these spaces while preserving an intimate and cohesive flow.

In the private family suite, the Master Bedroom Suite is a sanctuary of modern luxury, featuring dual dressing areas, a beautifully appointed bathroom, an attic sauna with garden views, and a Dolby Atmos cinema experience that transforms movie nights into immersive events.

Craftsmanship

Every detail of Skyfall reflects Project One’s commitment to refined craftsmanship and innovation. Concealed doors maintain a minimalist aesthetic while inviting discovery, with unique designs that pivot, spin, or hinge to reveal hidden spaces.

The internal joinery is entirely bespoke, crafted in-house by Project One’s master artisans, except for the kitchen island – an Italian Molteni Dada masterpiece featuring a telescopic lift to transition from island to bar height. Collaborations with brands such as Bocci, Molteni, Missoni, Flos, Gaggenau, and Grohe result in interiors and appliances that elevate daily living to an exceptional experience.

Spa & Cinema

The spa at Skyfall is an indulgent retreat, housed within the converted stable block. By reimagining the space and reinforcing it with a 22m steel ridge beam, we achieved a fully customisable layout that accommodates a massage room, bodyweight gym, shower bathroom, male and female changing areas, steam room, sauna, refrigerated plunge pool, and a stunning swimming pool. A dedicated plant room ensures seamless home automation and utilities integration.

Design continuity was essential, with lighting following Project One’s signature “invisible sun” method—subtle floor-level illumination that complements the building’s refined materials. Warm Weston red cedar, machined with a 50mm offset, lends a sense of singularity and flow, while the glass-fronted sauna offers breathtaking views and a truly immersive experience.

This meticulously designed space, complete with a cinema cabin for ultimate relaxation and entertainment, exemplifies the art of luxury living and elevates the Skyfall experience to new heights.

Landscaping

The landscaping around Skyfall is guided by simplicity and material integrity, with carefully curated elements that echo the home’s refined aesthetic. Concealed speakers set every five meters and mood lighting delicately woven through the trees create an enchanting outdoor atmosphere. Nature walks and curated garden spaces invite exploration across the two-acre estate.
