Project One have already created an amazing bathroom for us so we were keen for them to completely redesign our kitchen which was a large and cold space and was very dated. We knew it needed to be completely stripped back and to start from scratch.

Dorian and Babette’s design and vision for the new kitchen meant moving the kitchen area to the other end of the space and putting the new dining area next to the window which made much better use of the space. It also meant dining in natural light and having a great view of the garden at the same time.

They spent a lot of time with us finding out how we used our kitchen and how we wanted the new space to work for us. They suggested lowering the ceiling in the kitchen end of the room, a ceiling rose in the dining area, shadow gaps around the units and many other details that we would never have considered without their input. They even went to the trouble of handpicking the pieces of marble that our worktops would be made from so they could ensure the colour and veins in the marble were just right.

We had seen a booth seat in a kitchen magazine that we really wanted to incorporate into our new kitchen to give the dining area a cosy family feel and whilst it was a complicated bespoke design that was needed, Project One spent a lot of time getting it just right for us.

We have done a lot of restoration work on our property and are used to the realities of having building work done when unexpected problems crop up. With the kitchen, these were minimal and Dorian was always very open and honest with us about them and how we could resolve them in a cost effective way. Their teams of craftsmen are a pleasure to have working in our home and were always considerate and tidy!

For us it was also important to keep to our budget for the project, which apart from a few upgrades we decided to do along the way, we did manage to do.

The end result is our beautifully elegant and handcrafted kitchen that has a grown up and sophisticated feeling but equally works for our young family. The layout flows brilliantly and the kitchen appliances and cupboard space is all so well thought through that the kitchen is easy to use and a pleasure to cook in. We had 13 people to entertain for Christmas Day and the new kitchen made this look easy. Six months on and we still notice and appreciate the details that Project One spent a lot of time getting just right.

We have one room left in our house that needs a compete refurbishment….I think we’re ready for our third project with them!
